Breaking News! – CCA to allow and facilitate in land exportation of Ivorian RCN destined for processing in neighboring countries


Following the ACA’s first Cashew Stakeholder Meeting held in Accra on 29th March 2016 to formulate a vision for the African Cashew Industry, a Board meeting of the Competitive Cashew Initiative (ComCashew) was held on the 30th. The African Cashew Alliance (ACA) is a constituting board member of ComCashew and as such, sat in this meeting.
 
During this meeting, competitiveness of cashew processing in Africa was discussed and in response to the strong demand by board members, Dr. Adama Coulibaly, Director General of Conseil du Cotton et de l’Anacarde (CCA) announced that:
 
“CCA allows and is committed to facilitate on land exportations of Ivorian RCN destined for processing to neighboring countries. This shall apply on demand basis and under the condition that is goes through registered exporters and that the taxes are paid.”
 
Dr. Coulibaly followed up today with a visit to USIBRAS to assess the impact of RCN shortage on processors in Ghana.



ACA at the meeting reiterated the need for the government of Ghana to join the ministerial committee of cashew producing countries (CICC) and also introduce some policy regulations for the sector.
