Background/Context

The African Cashew Alliance (ACA) was founded in 2006 as a business alliance devoted to promoting a globally competitive African cashew industry that benefits the entire value chain from farmer to consumer. Today, ACA’s Vision is to reach “a sustainable African cashew industry that delivers globally competitive, value-added products and secures profitability for all actors”. To accomplish this vision, ACA works to create a platform for accelerating growth and investments in the African cashew industry through partnerships, advocacy, market linkages, technical support and global networking for sharing information and best practices.

Purpose of the consultancy

The strategic development consultant will facilitate directional analysis of ACA and a communications, monitoring, and evaluation plan. This includes assessing the Theories of Change employed by ACA and examining how they serve to deliver ACA’s mission.

The purpose of this consultancy is to implement a strategic methodology and support and lead ACA staff, partners, and board in a participatory planning process, ensuring a sense of ownership, engaging meaningfully with the members, board of governance and key stakeholders. The substantive outcome is a five-year strategic plan for the period 2026-2030.

Scope of Work

The plan must address, amongst other things, the development of strong ownership by members and partnerships initiatives for resource mobilization and how to more effectively engage government agencies for private sector development. Meaningfully in the realization of ACA’s mission and vision. The consultant will draw from any best practices within similar strategic plans for other non-governmental organizations with similar modus operandi.

Deliverable Outputs

Based on the above, Consultant shall prepare and complete the five-year strategic plan.
