TOR-MTP Facilitators

Background

The African Cashew Alliance (ACA) has been working on developing learning solutions for the industry.  As such we have developed several eLearning and in-class training programs, which are being rolled out. We have also fully taken over the Master Training Program (MTP) from the Market-Oriented Value Chains for Jobs & Growth in the ECOWAS Region (MOVE/GIZ) to enable us to consolidate the learning programs as well as enhance the content. 14 editions have been held already in which 1,036 experts have been trained between 2014 and 2022. To prepare for and deliver the 15th Edition and 16th Edition in 2022 and 2023, the ACA is seeking the services of qualified experts to serve in the role of Facilitator for the MTP.

The aims of the MTP are to: 

  • Create a pool of qualified experts on the cashew value chain in West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, also reaching out to other West-African countries - e.g.  Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Mali); and
  • Reach out to East African countries;
  • Facilitate the regional exchange of knowledge, learning and innovation.

Required profile of the Facilitator  

  • Should have an experience in adult education, organisational development (Gestalt) and facilitation of large groups.
  • Must have expertise and understand the cashew value chain.
  • Must have a profound knowledge on process facilitation and have experience in managing a very diverse cultural group.
  • Have experience on training design, concept and implementation; have experience in leading a group of facilitators.
  • knowledge of the Cashew sector and proficiency in English language. (French language is considered an added advantage)

The tasks are defined as follows:

  1. Design and share with Management of ACA a detailed implementation plan for all the editions and sessions.
  2. Preparing training needs assessment and profiling of participants.
  3. Design appropriate training methods and modules to ensure the best results for all the training Sessions
  4. Plan and prepare for each edition’s trainings sessions according to the event timetable to ensure seamless transition from edition to edition and session to session.
  5. Review and validate training materials to be used for the sessions. Recommend necessary changes as required.
  6. Lead Internal training/ teambuilding activities of the resources and logistics team.
  7. Lead the team of resource persons and teams during each of the 5-day training sessions
  8. Host post training review sessions with the resources and logistics team as well as Management representatives of ACA.
  9. Hold debriefing sessions for management of ACA before, during and after each training session.
  10. Deliver detailed final reports on each training session providing details on issues and matters before, during and after the training with recommendations for subsequent sessions.
  11. Coordinate the collection of data and training of participants during intersession (In between training sessions)
  12. Provide coaching to members of the Resources and logistics team during intersession.

Expected results:

  • The Design of session 1; session 2 and session 3 of those of the 15th and 16th  Editions are prepared.
  • The resource and logistic team are introduced into the training principles, the delivery process and roles and responsibilities clearly defined.
  • The one-week master training programme per session for over 120 participants from more than 12 countries is delivered to the satisfaction of the participants and ACA management.
  • The resources, logistics and management team to analyse the processes and results of the training and make recommendations for the continuing training programme.
  • A training report delivered at the end of each session, as well as a 2-pager debriefing note to management of ACA.

 

Duration of contract:

The contract is from 17th November 2022 to 14th June 2023 and to be performed in Sunyani in the Bono Region of Ghana and Abidjan, Cote d’ Ivoire.  Within this period all expected results of the consultancy must be finalized.

Other costs:

  • Per diem, accommodation and transportation shall be provided by ACA
  • Ghanaian Tax Law shall be applied (implying deduction of 7.5% withholding tax)
  • Other cost shall appear on the financial offer

In addition, the financial proposal will not factor in the initial review and scoring of the applications; only shortlisted applicants will have their financial proposals considered.
